Part 1: Call of Duty: World at War
I was at the EB Games near my work, and I was watching the people buying COD:W@W. Let me back up a bit, first thing I noticed was that it cost $65 cdn, (and C.E. is $80)!!! Usually a game comes out at $60 cdn!! The only thing I can think of is that because the Canadian dollar is low they are raising prices. Which is strange considering when the dollar was strong the prices didn’t drop?
COD:W@W has about 7 skus, 7!!! 2 for PC, 2 for PS3, 2 for 360, and 1 for PS2. PS3 + 360 cost $65 bucks with the C.E. costing $80, pc costs $55 with the C.E. costing $80, and ps2 cost $45. Activision is sure to make a lot of money off this game. ALOT!!!
Any way I was watching the people buy COD:W@W and there were a lot of them. And they weren’t just buy the regular one either I saw at least three(3) C.E.s sold.
So what I am getting at is this: I am not going to say that COD:W@W is a bad game. That would be wrong seeing as I haven’t played the game yet. What I will say is do we really need a new COD every year? Why couldn’t Treyarch just make DLC for COD4? Or new MP maps? And why WWII? I think that I would be a lot more receptive if it wasn’t WWII.I will give this game a rent for sure but I can’t see my self giving COD:W@W the same amount of time I gave COD4.
Blog Response: WTF? part 1 Posted: 2 months ago better yet,. why not a game that took place in the 60;s, but as if ww2 never ended? (kinda like the old PC game Ironstorm? Click here to see the blog --------------------------------- semper ubi sub ubi

Posted: 2 months ago exactly.kinda like taking guns and adding a futirstic spin on them, but from the perspective of a what a futuristic gun would be from the 1960;s 40 years of world war perspective. --------------------------------- semper ubi sub ubi
Posted: 2 months ago Call Of Duty is a franchise. Activision make Treyarch an IW are forced to make them every year.--------------------------------- Oh Man, Look At All This Sh!t (Hoffman After Chaisawing A Locust Drone)
Posted: 2 months ago i understand that its a franchise, but still why do we need t o buy a new disc every year why not just make it all dlc?and cyan your talking about what bethesda did for fallout 3. retro view of future. --------------------------------- Merchants of Cool
Posted: 2 months ago Gundrill is correct. The money made off of DLC is a drop in the ocean compared to what they will make on the sales of a new SKU. And public companies have to 'comp' against the sales last year at the same time, which is why it's launching at almost the same exact time as 4 did last year. For the record, I'm not paying for it! /but I'll play a free copy ... lol! --------------------------------- 'I wanna get my knees dirty.' -- Gunnz, Netcast 37 |
